After so
many years of competitive swimming in many countries of Latin America,
New Zealand, Italy, and United States, it has been a dream come true to
finally put myself to service the people, teaching toddlers, kids of all
ages, and adults in Miami, Florida.

As a Temple
Sinai of Hollywood Summer Camp swimming instructor, I am in charge of
design the program, activities and teaching swimming lessons to groups
of 10-20 kids per group, from ages 3 and up.

As a Lifeguard,
to go up on the chair and put myself to service the local community has
been a new challenge that implied not only the supervision of swimming
pool activities but also performing rescues of active and/or passive victims,
either under water or surface including among others the handling of victims
with neck injuries, and taking them safely to land. I have been trained
by The American Red Cross in Miami to perform those duties. My responsibilities
include among others:
- Supervise
the aquatic facility
- Handling
first aid problems
- Assist
and report all disciplinary problems to the head lifeguard
- Assist
the pool operator in maintaining the chemical and filtration equipment,
as well as the aquatics facility environs.
- Control
supplies and equipment that needs to be repaired or replaced
- Maintain
control of the posted bathing load
- Enforce
the Aquatic Center rules as listed in the Staff Manual, Facility Policies
and Procedures Manual
- Assist
in the filling out all forms of the city, county and state health departments
- Maintain
positive public relations at the facility and set a positive example
for the rest of the staff to follow
